Current students

To equip students with knowledge of theories and principles in translation and job-related knowledge.
To enable students to master translation skills from English into Thai and Thai into English in order to produce translation works of excellent standard.
To develop students' analytical and critical skills in identifying and solving problems in translation and in evaluating a translation.
To enable students to conduct a translation research, which will develop the study, research and profession in translation in Thailand.

Academic System

The Programme operates on a two-semester basis. Dates of semesters follow the

University’s academic calendar.

The Programme offers two study plans. Graduate students may choose either

Plan A or Plan B.

Plan A:

This path of the Programme consists of a coursework and a thesis. Students must take

24 credits of compulsory courses, 9 credits of electives, and 12 credits of a thesis.

Plan B:

This path of the Programme consists of a coursework and an individual study. Students

must take 24 credits of required courses, 15 credits of electives and 6 credits of an

individual study.

Comprehensive Examination

Plan A

Students may register for a comprehensive examination after completing 18 credits of

coursework. They must have obtained a minimum GPA of 3.00.

Plan B

Students may register for a comprehensive examination after having registered for 39

credits of coursework. They must obtain a minimum GPA of 3.00.

Thesis Requirements (Plan A only)

Students may register for a thesis after they have passed the comprehensive

examination. They must also obtain a minimum GPA of 3.00 for all courses taken.

They must also have fulfilled a foreign language requirement (TU GET) before

the oral defence of their theses.

Applicant’s Qualifications

Applicants must have received a bachelor’s degree or the equivalent in any field of

studies from an educational institute accredited by Thammasat University Council.

Period of Study

The total period of study may not exceed 10 semesters.
